Virtual Drums is a complete browser drum kit with 8 colourful electronic-style pads. From left to right on the bottom row: Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat, Open Hat. Top row: Tom 1, Tom 2, Crash, Ride. Each pad triggers a completely synthesized drum sound using Web Audio API techniques appropriate to the drum: the kick combines a pitch-dropping sine wave (150 Hz to 40 Hz) with a low-pass filtered noise click; the snare layers a 200 Hz tone burst with high-pass filtered white noise for the snare wire buzz; the hi-hats use bandpass and highpass filtered noise for a crisp metallic sound (closed hi-hat = 50ms decay, open hat = 350ms); the toms are pitch-dropping sine waves at different frequencies for high and low toms; the crash and ride use noise with a metallic ring oscillator at ~3-4 kHz. Play by clicking or tapping pads, or use keyboard shortcuts Q W E R for the top row and A S D F for the bottom row. Multiple simultaneous keys and touches work, so you can play complex patterns. Three preset beat patterns loop automatically at 120 BPM: Rock Beat (classic backbeat with kick-snare on the 1 and 3), Funk Beat (syncopated with ghost notes), and Hip-Hop (sparse with a boom-bap feel). Hit Stop to end the loop. Each pad flashes and depresses slightly when triggered for visual feedback.
